3D Motorboat Configurator for Alba
Choosing a motorboat rarely comes down to the model alone. Buyers want to see how the hull color, side graphics, deck finish, and equipment work together, and what the finished configuration will cost. Photos and option lists make that hard to picture.
For Alba, we developed a 3D motorboat configurator that lets customers build a boat to suit their needs and see every change on an interactive model. It brings design choices, equipment selection, and live pricing into one interface. We also built an admin panel for managing the catalogue and controlling available options across websites and locations.
Who the Alba Configurator Is For
The goal was to let customers build a motorboat around their needs and see the result before speaking to a sales manager. For Alba, the configurator serves several practical purposes:
- It shows each model and design option in interactive 3D.
- It helps customers compare equipment packages and prices in one place.
- It generates a ready-to-share proposal that can also be sent by email.
A separate admin panel lets the manufacturer maintain its catalogue and control which options are available on different websites and in different regions.
Features of the Alba 3D Configurator
Customers configure a boat step by step. Every choice appears on the 3D model immediately, making it easy to judge each option as part of the complete setup.
- Base model. Choose Alba 650, Alba 400, Alba 460, or Alba 395, then customize that boat.
- Exterior. Select side graphics, patterns, and hull colors, and adjust the deck and console finish.
- Interior. Choose carpeting or vinyl, change the color and pattern, and configure seats and other interior details.
- Equipment. Add outboard motors, fish finders, sensors, anchors, and other parts and devices.
- Tuning and transport. Add a canopy and a trailer.
- Interactive view. Rotate the model with a mouse and zoom in or out to inspect details from different angles.
Because the model updates in real time, customers see a specific boat in their chosen configuration instead of an abstract list of specifications.
Cart and Personalized Proposal
The configurator is connected to a cart that lists the base model, selected graphics, deck covering, seats, equipment, and other options. The total updates automatically whenever the configuration changes.
- The customer selects or changes a component.
- The 3D model immediately shows the updated boat, while the cart shows its contents and price.
- Removing an item from the cart also removes it from the boat configuration.
Customers can share their configuration, download a PDF proposal, or send it by email. Both the sales manager and customer receive a specific setup they can discuss.
Admin Panel for Catalogue and Location Management
Alongside the configurator, we built an admin panel. It lets Alba manage the catalogue and update configurator content without changing the customer interface.
- Boat catalogue: upload and update base 3D models.
- Design and interior: manage side wraps, patterns, colors, deck coverings, seats, shock absorbers, and interior trim.
- Equipment: add motors, fish finders, sensors, anchors, and other components.
- Tuning: maintain canopies and trailers.
For each connected domain and location, administrators choose which configurator elements customers can access and which currency is used for prices. This lets one product serve different markets and assortments.
The Result: A Boat Built to the Customer’s Specification
Customers can build an Alba motorboat around their needs: choose a model, customize its look and equipment, inspect it from every angle, and see the total price immediately. They can share the saved configuration, download it as a PDF, or email the proposal.
For the manufacturer, this creates one digital showcase for its boats and options. The admin panel helps update the catalogue, control equipment availability across domains, and display prices in the right currency.
